Highlights
For this portal we used new technology to speed up the development process and make the user experience quick and simple. The portal was branded to the colours of Cadeby Tree Trust rather than being more generic as we have in the past.
The biggest achievement was to get rid of the spreadsheet that was previously used and make a system that can be stored digitally.
Challenges
The majority of this portal required standard features. Forms to fill out, settings to be updated and separate access for admin and customers, things we've done for all the other portals we've built. The biggest challenge with this site was integrating the delivery cost and pallet cost matrix!
If a customer doesn't fill a pallet then the cost of the pallet will change. This needed to be reflected in the order page so a customer could clearly see how adding more trees, and therefore filling a pallet, could actually reduce the cost of the order. Having the order form live update the total, as each selection is made, gives the customer instant feedback. We also included a 'Fill' button that allows a customer to quickly add the required number of trees to fill a pallet, saving them from needing to work do the calculations themselves.
Result
We're delighted to have delivered on this project and to now be starting a phase 2. The goal of trying to save on paperwork and make the ordering process easier to understand for customers has been achieved and the system is being well received and well used. It will undoubtedly provide efficiencies for the Cadeby team but also make them a more attractive proposition for wholesalers who can duplicate orders year on year rather than needing to start again.
Producing a fully branded portal has taken our systems to the next level, rather than just having a white system with customised button colours, the whole system feels like it's part of the brand for Cadeby Tree Trust, giving reassurance to their customers.
