This is one of those unashamedly unapologetic analogy blogs where I try and use a topic of the moment and tell you how it relates to your website!
I know the final hasn’t happened yet and this could look very silly come Sunday night, so bookmark it, but I’ve been boring people all Euros by standing, what feels like all on my own, right behind Gareth.
Yes I know the football hasn’t always been an easy watch and we’ve certainly had some luck but the main thing we’ve had is a plan, a backup plan and a backup of the backup plan.
A lot of Gareth’s critics moan about the lack of flexibility, or timings of his substitutes ( sorry finishers ) but this apparent stubbornness is actually a firm belief and confidence in the plans that have been decided long in advance.
Every scenario has been considered and a plan B, C and D is ready to go as the game plays out. If you’ve not read about the procedures and structures that were put in place for the penalties against Switzerland then I encourage you to do so and then tell me Gareth doesn’t know what he’s doing.

This is one of a hundred examples I can point to.
I know we were 86 seconds away from going out but the squad believed in the process and kept calm whilst the rest of us were screaming at the TV and let’s face it, everyone needs a bit of luck every now and then!
👉🏼 So I should get to the point of this blog - what’s this got to do with websites?
📝 It’s simple. What’s your backup plan, what’s your plan B, C and D for potential scenarios? Here are some things to think about:
⚽️ Do you have a scheduled backup?
⚽️ Do you back up to an external location from your website server?
⚽️ Have you considered what would happen if your hosting server had a fatal crash?
⚽️ Do you have a disaster recovery?
⚽️ How quickly can you action your disaster recovery plan?
⚽️ What defences have you got in place to mitigate against attacks? ( see what I did here? )
⚽️ Do you have a firewall configured?
